Buys L'Hotel Ritz, Paris.
1985

Buys House of Fraser group, including Harrods.

Completes renovation of L'Hotel Ritz, Paris.
1986

Is invested as a Legion of Honour Chevalier by the President of France, Francois Mitterand.
1989

Becomes Executive Chairman of Harrods.

Major Jacques Chirac presents Mohamed Al Fayed with "La Grande Medaille" from the City of Paris (the plaque of the City of Paris).
1993
