“You want to buy a car, an elephant? You name it, it's here.”

   - Mohamed Al Fayed

Loved by Noel Coward, adored by Oscar Wilde, the world’s most famous Department Store is one of London’s most treasured buildings, and is now a favourite shopping destination of A-list celebrities, politicians and international royalty.

From a small grocery shop owned by Charles Henry Harrod in 1849, Harrods has burgeoned into a spectacular shoppers’ heaven.

A retail wonderland
Set across 1.2 million square feet, its 330 departments span seven floors, housing premium brands from across the globe. Closed for just two days a year, it sometimes sees more than 30,000 customers pass through it in just one day. Its intricate exterior is listed by English Heritage, and its Egyptian Escalator – conceived by Mohamed Al Fayed - is now a World Heritage Site.

Harrods has seen almost £400 million of investment since 1985 when Mr Al Fayed and his brother bought it, from the Fraser Brothers.

Today it is synonymous with luxury; a retail theatre which exudes the elaborate, the exclusive and the extraordinary.
